I agree. That’s a little too much. However, being polite when dealing with the Brits is extremely important.
Here are a few examples of what to say, and what not to say:
Excuse me, I’m looking for Oxford Street.
Don’t say: Where’s Oxford Street?
I’d like a hamburger, please.
Don’t say: I want a hamburger.
I think you might be mistaken.
Don’t say: You’re wrong.
Could you send me the script, please?
Don’t say: Send me the script.
I wonder if i might leave work earlier tomorrow?
Don’t say: Can I leave work earlier tomorrow?
